Ljubomir Ilic (1905-1994) de nacionalidad yugoslava, estudió y vivió en Francia desde 1926. Durante la Guerra Civil Española se alistó como Brigadier y fue ascendiendo de rango hasta el grado de mayor del Ejército de la República. Al regresar a Francia entre 1939 y 1942 fue capturado preso en distintas ocasiones hasta su fuga en 1943. A principios de 1944 fue llamado al Comité Francés de Liberación Nacional y nombrado comandante de todas las fuerzas combatientes extranjeras en Francia. Tras la liberación de Francia emprendió una carrera como diplomático y en Marzo de 1946 encabezó una misión en América Latina con el fin de establecer vínculos con países de la región. En virtud a su relevante carrera debió ser considerado dentro de los invitados internacionales a la ceremonia de toma de protesta del expresidente Miguel Alemán Valdés en Diciembre de 1946 donde le fue otorgada esta medalla y años más tarde, en 1953 se desempeñó como embajador en México. Acuñada en cospel de bronce en alto relieve con el Escudo Nacional al centro y la leyenda EJERCITO MEXICANO, sobre el montículo se lee la fecha Dic. 1°. 46, firma del grabador S. Diaz B. a la derecha del listón, por el otro lado carece de grabado y la inscripción se colocó de forma manual con alguna herramienta o buril, tintado de color naranja. 51 milímetros de diámetro, pátina café oscura, residuos de pegamento en forma de manchitas oscuras, restos de resina o pegamento en canto y borde, los cuales seguramente con un proceso profesional de conservación podrían ser removidos. No catalogada, el primer ejemplar que manejamos y seguramente única con el nombre de este General. RARA.

Ljubomir Ilic (1905-1994), a Yugoslav national, studied and lived in France from 1926. During the Spanish Civil War, he enlisted as a brigadier and rise through the ranks until he reached the rank of major in the Army of the Republic. Returning to France between 1939 and 1942, he was captured as a prisoner on several occasions until his escape in 1943. In early 1944 he was called up to the French Committee of National Liberation and appointed commander of all foreign combatant forces in France. After the liberation of France he embarked on a career as a diplomat and in March 1946 headed a mission to Latin America in order to establish links with countries in the region. By virtue of his relevant career, he should have been considered among the international guests at the swearing-in ceremony of former President Miguel Alemán Valdés in December 1946 where he was awarded this medal and years later, in 1953, he served as ambassador to Mexico. Struck in bronze blank in high relief with the National Coat of Arms in the center and the legend MEXICAN ARMY, on the mound the date Dec. 1°. 46, signature of the engraver S. Diaz B. to the right of the ribbon, on the other side it lacks engraving, and the inscription was placed manually with some tool or burin, tinted in orange color. 51 millimeters in diameter, dark brown patina, glue residue in the form of small dark spots, traces of resin or glue on the edge and rim, which could probably be removed with a professional conservation process. Uncatalogued, the first specimen we handle and probably the only one with the name of this General.
